Artscape at the Arboretum
Artscape, a juried fine art show and sale, features the nature-inspired masterpieces of 75 national and local artists, with the Arboretum’s floral finest as the backdrop. Artscape artists employ a variety of mediums, including paint, sculpture, photography and 2-D and 3-D mixed-media, all available for sale.
New this year is a members-only “sneak preview,” which takes place April 25 from 6PM to 8PM. If you’re an Arboretum member, you get a first look at the Artscape display and can purchase beverages while shopping the private event.
Thanks to the Creative Arts Center of Dallas, guests are not only able to view and buy fantastic works of art, but are also able to watch the art being created. Artists Annie Foster, Art Wells, Brett Dyer, Cynthia Chartier, Dave Kramer and Rebecca Collins are on deck to demo their work during Artscape. If you’re interested in learning about sculpture, mosaics, jewelry making, printmaking or painting up close and personal, stick around and watch the process unfold.
Dallas Arboretum supports the local art community, and Artscape is an outreach program in support of its artist-in-residence initiative. Officials at the Arboretum pick deserving artists to work onsite for a two-month period and create pieces based on what they see and experience in the gardens. Artists who are interested in interpreting their love of nature through art can email artscape@dallasarboretum.org for information. The residency program’s finished products are on display in the Artists’ Garden, which features artwork, community activities and talks.
