Food Options at the Dallas ArborEATum
We’re no strangers to a delicious bite at the Dallas Arboretum. One thing our visitors love to do is wear themselves out walking our beautiful paths, satiating their desire for nature beauty, and then enjoy a fabulous meal to satisfy their… well their appetite for food.
Back in the heat of summer, Zagat published a list of the best restaurants near the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. The timing is perfect, with the grand opening of A Tasteful Place, our 3.5-acre edible, vegetable and herb display garden looming (October 3), plus thousands of hungry fall fans eagerly making their plans to visit the internationally acclaimed Pumpkin Village during Autumn at the Arboretum.
Eating at the Arboretum
We’d be remiss if we didn’t sing our own delectable praises for a moment. We have two “to-go” food counters, The Lula Mae Slaughter Dining Terrace and the Café on the Green. And we also offer the fabulous DeGolyer Restaurant. It features a tried-and-true menu with a few rotating, seasonal dishes, experienced wait staff that are proud of the dishes they serve, and ambiance built on nearly a century of history owing to the setting itself—the historic DeGolyer House. Amazing outdoor seating that creates a creates a soothing tableau out of the overlook view of A Woman’s Garden, with White Rock Lake behind it caps off the experience.
East Dallas Dining
But if you’re aching to stretch your legs and try something from the budding local food scene, the Zagat list will not disappoint. From our close friends and often partners serving a kind of American Bistro take on Texas Barbeque, to staff favorites Canne Rosso, where they will not serve you ranch with your pizza, no matter how you ask, and neighbor On-Rotation, a fun taproom and occasionally features fancy, kid-friendly beverages to go along with your full growler, this list, and the area sport something for every palette.
Melty Guilty Pleasure
Or you could walk it off European Style. One of my personal favorites is the Dallas Arboretum Grilled Cheese station, which is only open during Autumn and Blooms.
Buttery, thick, Texas-toast slices with melty cheese and a walk through the most beautiful place in Dallas during lunch—it’s hard to do that wrong.
