Get Ready to Rock at Dallas Arboretum’s Cool Thursdays Concert Series
Gather your friends and family, stock your picnic basket and grab a blanket—it’s time for Cool Thursdays at the Dallas Arboretum! There is no better way to spend a Thursday night than sitting outdoors with a glass of your favorite beverage, surrounded by the beautiful gardens, enjoying some of the finest—and most fun—bands Dallas has to offer.
The spring concert series runs through July with the following bands slated to perform:
May 1: Satisfaction
May 8: Kraig Parker
May 15: Bruce in the USA
May 22: Escape
May 29: Le Freak
June 5: The Limelight Band
June 12: The Landsharks
June 19: A Hard Night’s Day
June 26: Fast Lane
July 3: The Dallas Symphony
So the music is covered, but what to pack in your picnic? To make for a fuss-free, family-friendly meal, include finger foods such as sandwiches, hot dogs, chips and dips, apples and bananas. Use icepacks so your selections stay fresh and cool.
Feel free to bring wine, soda, water or whatever is your drink of choice, but don’t forget the cups. Disposable salt and pepper shakers are also handy additions, and melamine plates are perfect for dining outdoors—they’re reusable, eco-friendly and come in a variety of colors and patterns. It’s always good to have some bug spray handy for the concert as well.
Also remember to pack stuff for cleanup: paper towels, a trash bag and moist towelettes. Of course you’ll want to pack a favorite picnic blanket (or two) so you can stretch out and enjoy the show.
If you’d rather not pack your own food, there are items for purchase from local food trucks, parked on-site.
Make the most of your Cool Thursday experience by arriving early and strolling through the gardens before heading to the concert stage. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy all the Arboretum has to offer as the sun makes its descent. Gates open at 6PM and close at the conclusion of the show.
All performances begin at 7:30PM and are held on the Martin Rutchik Concert Lawn, which is approximately a five-minute walk from the main gate. Both single tickets and subscription packages are available for purchase on the Dallas Arboretum website and at the gardens. We’ll see you at the show!
