Tips for a Stress Free Wedding
You can make a beautiful, wonderful, memorable, stress-free wedding a reality for you. Whether you’ve spent your entire life dreaming of a magical wedding day, or you just started planning and realized it is not all going to fall in place by the flick of a fairy god mother’s wand, these five simple tips can help reduce stress on your wedding day and even make the wedding planning process something memorable!
Here’s what we’ve learned working in the wedding business:
RELAX
This most important thing to remember if you want to enjoy the planning process. Of course, it’s not as easy as someone just telling you to relax and then poof! All of a sudden you’re relaxed. But you have to make it a goal and plan for it.
So schedule days of rest during the planning process, days where there is “no wedding talk” allowed, so you can spend time enjoying your friends and families. Approaching your planning with a relaxed mindset and a great attitude will help you appreciate the process and get you started on the right foot!
TIMELINE & BUDGET
Give yourself enough time to plan the wedding you want, starting with layout out your planning timeline. No matter how full of amazing ideas your wedding Pinterest board is, start with the plan, and include your budget. All those amazing ideas are expensive, and you have to prioritize. Start a spreadsheet with your budget and each major item, grab your planning timeline, and then start calling vendors and venues. Knowing what you have to do each day and each week, and how much you’ve already budgeted for each expense will keep your stress level down.
WEDDING PLANNER
A wedding planner is a must for your peace of mind, regardless of wedding size. As event coordinators at the Dallas Arboretum, we all dream of the day we can be like Jennifer Lopez with a headset, secretly taking care of every little wedding detail while smiling and keeping the bride happy. This is actually what a wedding planner does in real life!
A wedding planner takes all the ideas in your head, figures out what is possible, and brings your vision to life without you having to stress. Yes, a wedding planner is an expense that you don’t want hogging your budget. But we’re here to tell you that you can afford it, and it is worth it. Wedding planners’ services and costs vary a lot. Some plan from beginning to end, some that set up the plan and hand things over before the wedding starts, and some show up on the day of the wedding and execute your plan, ensuring everything is in its place.
PLAN B
A backup plan will minimize stress on the big day. For example, if the ceremony takes place outside, you have to prepare for any weather. With a good backup plan, you’ll know what to do if it starts to rain, so that the only think you really have to think about is that you get to marry the love of your life. Any good venue or coordinator will have a plan B ready to go without any problems.
REMEMBER WHY
The most important thing to remember is why you’re getting married. The color of linens and the size of the flower arrangement can’t compare to the wonderful person waiting for you at the end of aisle. You and another human have decided to pledge your lives together, even knowing the good, the bad, and the ugly. That true love is beautiful.
Cherish that, and remember that this is only the beginning of many triumphs you and your loved one will celebrate in the years to come. The dream you’ve always had is becoming a reality because you fell in love. Keep that in mind as you go through the planning process and ride waves of emotions on your wedding day.
At the Arboretum, we see it all. We want every bride to enjoy their wedding day to its fullest. Following these tips will help you to enjoy the process and focus on the exciting decisions and experience of being engaged. You are planning a wedding, but ultimately you are planning a celebration! The journey you and your finance are about to embark on is worth celebrating, so get ready to party!
With Love,
